Nieuwe Kerk

Nieuwe Kerk, or New Church, is located at Dam Square, and it is used for royal weddings and other great ceremonies in Amsterdam. The construction of the church started in the end of the 14th century, but that was destroyed by fires in 1421 and 1452, followed by almost destruction after a fire in 1645. Today, the church is no longer used regularly as a church but is a popular exhibition venue.

How can I visit the church?

If you have an IAmsterdam Card, you can visit the church for free. You can buy tickets online, or you can buy them at the entrance of the church. The price for an adult is €15.50. Kids under 11 can enter the church for free if adults accompany them.

How can I get to the building?

The church is located at Dam Square, making it easy to reach. You can walk to the square within 10 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal. You can also travel to Dam Square with nearly all trams leaving the central station. If you want to use the metro, travel by M52 to the Rokin station.

it isn’t recommended to explore Amsterdam by car, but if you still arrive with your own car or a rental car, it is possible to park at one of the following locations: De Bijenkorf (department store), Central Station and Nieuwezijds Kolk.
