Ed AtkinsA major exhibition will be on display of Ed Atkins at the Stedelijk Museum in the Netherlands from the end of February to the end of May in 2015.

This will be the first exhibition only devoted to Ed Atkins in the Netherlands. Ed Atkins who was born in 1982 in Oxford, England is considered one of the most outstanding and influential artists of his generation. Atkins who grew up with online technology it became the artists second nature. At the exhibition visitors will have the chance to discover this new and unique form of art through the pictures shown of the artists and the exhibition also shows a wide range of various videos. This unique exhibition approaches this new and unknown form of art from a brand new perspective. The exhibition on one of the greatest artists of the contemporary art will be shown at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. The exhibition will be held from 21sth February to 31st May in 2015. Tickets for adults for the exhibition costs € 15, for students it is for € 7.50 and for children up to 18 is for free.

Exhibition on the late works of Rembrandt

Late RembrandtThis year the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam will show an exhibition on the late works of Rembrandt from the middle of February to the middle of May.

For twenty years a complete Rembrandt exhibition will be shown again to the visitors giving a chance for everyone to get to know the greatest artist of the Dutch Golden Age. This will be the first exhibition dedicated only the late works of Rembrandt. Rembrandt was a Dutch painter who was born in 1606 and he died in 1669. Rembrandt is one of the most outstanding and most influential painters of all time and this will be the first time a whole exhibition will be dedicated only to his late art works. More than 100 various paintings, drawings and prints that were brought to Amsterdam from different museums and private collectors from all over the world will be shown at the exhibition. At this major exhibition visitors will have the chance to discover the most beautiful master pieces of Rembrandt. The exhibition on the late works of Rembrandt will take place at Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam from 12th February to 17th May in 2015.

Second World War exhibition

Second World WarThe exhibition ‘Stedelijk in the war’ will be shown from the end of February until the end of May in 2015 at the Stedelijk Museum.

The exhibition ‘Stedelijk in the war’ reveal the secrets on the collections and art works of the museum during the Second World War. The recent research by the museum shown interesting results that will be shown to the visitors through presentations including a wide selection of famous and less famous art works and documentations. The research shows that many of the collectors and the painters were Jewish and an other interesting story brought to light about the transfer of the Stedelijk collection to a bunker during the World War II.

At the exhibition visitors will have the chance to discover more on the Stedelijk Museum and also on the World War II. During the exhibition ‘Stedelijk in the war’ visitors will have the chance to explore stories and tales that has never been told before and this interesting exhibition shows the life and art during the World War II from a new perspective. The exhibition ‘Stedelijk in the war’ will be held at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam from 27th February to 31st May in 2015.

Exhibition on the works of Henri Matisse

MatisseThe Henri Matisse retrospective exhibition will be open from March to August this year in Amsterdam. Henri Matisse was a French artist who lived from 1869 to 1954.

Matisse was one of the most outstanding artist of the 20th century and his work had a big influence on the development of art. Matisse was best known for using colours and different media such as nudes, potted plants, idyllic landscapes, carpets, colourful textiles and cut-outs and at the exhibition visitors can explore the various forms of his art. The exhibition shows the most famous and popular art works of him including the monumental cut-out The Parakeet and the Mermaid as well and along side with his most outstanding pictures visitors will also have the chance to discover other works of Matisse. At the exhibition rarely exhibited works will be presented as well such as various stained glass works, works with fabrics and other cut-outs as well. The exhibition on Henri Matisse will take place in Amsterdam at Stedelijk Museum from 27th March to 16th August 2015.

Art fair in Amsterdam

Realisme AmsterdamThe art fair “Realisme” will be organised again this year in the middle of January in Amsterdam. This is the only art fair not only arranged in Amsterdam, but in the whole Netherlands.

The art fair is devoted to contemporary, figurative and realistic art. The art fair represents the most talented Dutch and other international painters and over 27 national and international galleries show the most outstanding pieces of the realistic, figurative and contemporary art. This will be the 12th time the fair art Realisme will be held in Amsterdam and it became one of the most popular cultural movement in the life of the city. Figurative and realistic art have long history that is rooted back to the Netherlands and at Realisme visitors have the chance to discover the most beautiful art works of realistic and figurative art. The art fair takes place in Amsterdam in the Passenger Terminal which gives home to several events during the winter.

The fair will be held from 15th January to 18th January in 2015 and it is open every day from 11 in the morning until 7 in the evening except on Friday when it is open until 8 in the evening. The entrance fee for the fair is € 12 for adults and for children up to 12 is free.

Munch and Van Gogh exhibition

This will be the largest exhibition on Van Gogh and Edvard Munch ever mane so far. Check it out in the Van Gogh museum between September 25th, 2015 and January 17th, 2016.

Van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist who was born in 1853 and he died in 1890. He is one of the most outstanding painters of the Post-Impressionists and his art work had a great influence of the upcoming generations’ art works. Edvard Munch was a Norwegian Symbolist painter who was born in 1863 and died in 1944. Munch had a great impact on the German Expressionism in the early 20th century. His most famous painting is The Scream which he painted in 1893. This exhibition shows the similarities between the two painters through their paintings. The exhibition will present more than 100 paintings including the biggest masterpieces of the two painters. Both of them had a really unique way, style and technique at painting. The exhibition Munch and Van Gogh will be held at the Munch Museum in Oslo from 7th May in 2015 until 6th September in 2015 then it will move to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam from 25th September in 2015 to 17th January in 2016.

The greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age

Golden AgeThe exhibition on the greatest painters of the Golden Age will be shown from this Saturday 29th November in 2014. The museum shows the greatest pictures which were born during the Golden Age in the Netherlands.

At the exhibition visitors will have the chance to discover more on the most influential Dutch painters of all time. The exhibition will present more than 30 paintings from different painters including the biggest names such as Rembrandt, Govert Flinck and Nicolaes Pickenoy. Some of the paintings have never been shown at an exhibition before. The exhibition will show the best and most remarkable paintings from the Dutch Golden Age and it is a perfect opportunity for you to get to know the greatest painters and their artworks as well. The exhibition displays some of the largest master pieces from the 17th and 18th century. The exhibition on the greatest Dutch artist from the 17th and 18th century will be shown at Hermitage Amsterdam. The exhibition will be shown from this Saturday 29th November 2014. until the end of 2016. The museum is open every day from Monday to Sunday.

Modern Times exhibition

This huge exhibition of photography is shown at the Rijksmuseum from this year November to next year January. This is the very first exhibition in the museum about photography in the 20th century.

The exhibition shows more than 400 pictures and it also includes rare pictures taken by Brassaï, Ed van der Elsken, John Gutmann, Lewis Hine, William Klein, Jacques-Henri Lartigue, Joel Meyerowitz, László Moholy-Nagy, Eadweard Muybridge and so on. At the exhibition visitors have the chance to discover more on the development of photography. The exhibition focuses on the photography as pure art and it shows all the biggest steps in the development of this art form including the introduction of colours, newspaper pictures, the role of photography in fashion and magazines and so on. At the exhibition visitors can explore the most unique pictures taken back at the time when photography was a totally new and special form of art. The exhibition Modern Times. Photography in the 20th Century is on display at the Rijksmuseum in the capital of Holland Amsterdam. The exhibition is held from 1st November 2014 until 11th January 2015.

Breitner Sketches Amsterdam

BreitnerThis exhibition is focused on Breitner’s work, sketches and paintings. George Hendrik Breitner was a Dutch painter and photographer.

He was born in 1857 in Rotterdam and he died in 1923 in Amsterdam in Holland. He is one of the most important figures of the Amsterdam Impressionism and he is most famous of his realistic paintings of street scenes and harbours. The exhibition shows endless sketches from the Dutch artist and a wide range of paintings and watercolours of Amsterdam. During the exhibition visitors will have the chance to discover and understand more Breitner through his paintings and sketches. He used his sketch book on a daily basis and he documented every change that happened around him and in the city of Amsterdam.

Through his sketches and paintings visitors will have a realistic and clear picture of the life back in that period of time. The Breitner Sketches exhibition will take place in the heart of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The exhibition will be held at Amsterdam City Archives from 10th October until next year 1st February 2015. The museum is closed every Monday but it is open from Tuesday to Friday.

Marlene Dumas – The Image as Burden

DumasMarlene Dumas is a South-African painter and artist who lives and works in the Netherlands. She was born in 1953 in South-Africa.

She used to create paintings, drawings, prints, collages and installations but nowadays she works mainly with oil paint on canvas and ink on paper. The exhibition displays a wide range of paintings from the South-African painter and visitors will have the chance to discover the paintings and their meanings in a new way. There will be more than 100 pictures shown at the exhibition from Dumas mostly from the late 1970s to the present day. The pictures are collected to the exhibition from all over the world. One of the main themes of the exhibition is the affect the media and magazines have on our life and how the outer world impacts our lives. She uses the magazines and newspaper to analyse the psychological, social and political aspects of the images. She is one of the most inspiring artist of the modern age. The exhibition will be held in the Dutch capital in Amsterdam at Stedelijk Museum. It will be shown from 6th September 2014 to 4th January 2015.
